Multi-Window Support allows users to open the Mail Viewer and Composer in separate windows, making it easier to reference emails while composing new ones or replying. This improves multitasking, streamlines workflows, and enhances productivity, especially on larger screens or across multiple conversations.
Multi-window options in Spark Desktop
Here’s what you can use in our app:
- Detachable Mail Viewer - open any email or thread in a separate window for more effortless multitasking.
- Detachable Composer - move the email composer into its window and reference other emails while you write.
How to use this feature
For the mail viewer
- With Full Screen enabled (Spark Settings > Appearance > Full Screen), open the email list (Inbox, a folder, etc.) > double-click an email to open it in a new dedicated window.
- Alternatively, you can use a shortcut to open an email in a new window: Ctrl + Option + N.
- Use Command Center > Open in a new window.

For the composer
- Open Spark.
- Click the Compose button at the upper right or press C to open the composer.
- Click the Open in a new window button in the upper left corner of the composer window.
- Alternatively, use Ctrl + Option + N to move the composer to a new window.
- Open Spark.

- Click the Open in a new window button in the upper left corner of the composer window.
- Alternatively, use Ctrl + Alt + N to move the composer to a new window.
You can also enable this option permanently for both your threads and the composer:
- Go to Spark > Settings > General.
- Enable the toggle to “Always open the thread viewer in a new window”.
- Go back to Settings > Composer.
- Enable the toggle to “Always open the composer in a new window”.
