Where to go after Notion Mail

Notion Mail shuts down on September 22, 2026. If you’ve spent the past few years building your habits and workflows around Notion, you might be wondering what this means for you and your email.

What’s happening to Notion Mail

On June 25, Notion announced its intention to sunset Notion Mail in order to shift focus to its AI agents. The company says that as its agents improved, more people began handing off email to them, and that more than half of Notion Mail users now manage their email without opening their inbox at all.

Notion Mail connects to Gmail, so your messages stay in your Gmail account — nothing happens to them as a result of this change. But anything that was only inside Notion Mail, like drafts, scheduled sends, snippets, and auto-label instructions, needs to be exported before the deadline. Which raises the real question: Where should your inbox go next?

If you’re looking for an alternative to Notion Mail, look no further. Spark is used by millions and fixes some of the problems Notion Mail never quite solved. Here are a few reasons to consider transitioning to Spark.

Every account in one inbox

Notion Mail only worked with Gmail. But the reality is that many people have accounts across multiple services, whether it’s that iCloud account you’ve been toting around since college or an Exchange account you use for work. Work and personal commitments don’t always stay in their separate lanes, and having to think about your life in terms of discrete accounts adds unnecessary mental load. When those accounts can’t sit in one view, you spend your day switching instead of working. And the thing you need is always in the inbox you’re not looking at.

Spark works with any email provider, including Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo!, Exchange, IMAP, so that you can see all your emails without switching apps or accounts. You view them together. You search them together. Spark surfaces what matters across all of them, so the important message finds you no matter which account it landed in.

And Spark isn’t just email. It comes with a built-in calendar and meeting notes support, so you can see all your events across every account in one dedicated app.

Built for you and your agents

Notion is betting on agents over inboxes. We see it differently. We've been building Spark for more than 10 years, and we still believe the inbox is where real work gets coordinated.

That doesn’t mean we’re ignoring the ubiquity of agents. In fact, quite the opposite. Back in May, we introduced Spark CLI, which connects Spark to the agents you already use, like Claude and Codex. Setup is simple and you stay in full control over which accounts are connected and what your agents can do in your inbox.

You don't have to choose between a dependable inbox and modern automation. You get to keep both.

Everything you’re used to and more

Several key Notion Mail features already exist in Spark under different names.

  • Snippets become Templates, saved replies you can drop in and automatically personalize with Spark +AI.
  • Scheduled sends are available in drafts — just look for the Send Later icon.
  • Custom views in Notion Mail are Smart Folders, so you can filter your inbox by things like subject, sender, attachments, or account.
  • Ask AI features like drafting, proofreading, and summarizing are available with Spark +AI
  • Auto labeling is coming to Spark very soon. In the meantime, you can automatically apply labels using Spark CLI

And there are lots of features Spark users love that were never available in Notion Mail, such as:

  • A Smart Inbox that automatically separates people from newsletters and notifications.
  • Customizable Inbox Views to make it easy to scan your inbox.
  • Priority Senders, which keeps the contacts you care about most at the top of your inbox.
  • AI Assistant, which provides instant, in-context answers about your emails, events, and meeting notes.
  • 10+ integrations so you can easily share emails to tools like Slack, Things, Reminders and — of course — Notion.
  • Team collaboration, so you can manage shared inboxes, collaborate on drafts, add context with private comments, and delegate emails.

The same inbox on every device

Notion Mail kept you close to your desk. It’s available on web and Mac, with a lighter iOS app and no Windows or Android versions, so checking email away from your main computer often meant going back to Gmail.

Spark runs on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. The inbox you set up on your laptop is the one waiting on your phone between meetings. Switch devices and your accounts, priorities, and drafts come with you. Nothing to reconfigure, nothing left behind.
