Today, we are delighted to introduce Spark's latest update that brings along special goodies for devices running Android 13 - offering greater customization and personalization by matching Spark to your phone wallpaper theme and color scheme. This is our first update dedicated to the release of Android 13 and all the new features which are supported. Alex Tyagulsky, Readdle co-founder and Head of Spark, says:
“I am personally super excited about this update. Now Readdle is not just an Apple-first platform. We also make updates with android-specific features after the new OS version release. I am happy that our Android users can now enjoy a Spark experience that matches their phone style and preferences.”
Modern new look
Spark brings an updated clean and modern look that builds on Google’s Material You. We revised every detail to make Spark feel more friendly, delightful, and native to the Android platform. This redesign also brings a more personalized experience, as you can now customize Spark to match your phone’s wallpaper tint and colors. Simply change the system colors on your android phone, then open Spark to match those system colors.
To match your system colors:
- Open Spark Settings
- Select Appearance
- Switch the "Match system colours" toggle
Themed app icons
Your Spark, your style. You can further customize Spark’s icon to match your phone’s wallpaper tint and colors, bringing harmony and cohesion to your home screen. You can also change the color schemes or update your wallpaper, and Android adjusts the dominant color automatically.
To activate theme icons in settings of your phone, follow these steps:
- Tap and hold an empty spot on your home screen.
- Choose Wallpaper & style in the pop-up.
- Scroll down and enable the Themed icons toggle.
- Change the color schemes or update your wallpaper, and Android adjusts the dominant color automatically.
- Return to the home screen to see themed icons in action. Spark’s icon has changed, adapting to your style.
New photo picker
Decide exactly what to share with the new photo picker, allowing you to select only specific photos and videos for Spark to access. Now the photo picker shows all photos in one list with larger previews, allows you to view all chosen photos on a full-screen and allows selection of photos by categories The photo picker is also more secure - when you add an attachment, now you can share only specific photos with Spark, not your entire library.
To use the new photo picker:
- Simply tick the photos you wish to select.
- You can either preview them in full screen.
- Or add them straight as your attachment.
Set a language for Spark
Many of us speak more than one language, and Android 13 makes it easy to switch between languages on your phone, just like in real life. Now, you can select a specific language for Spark, even if your phone’s system is in a different language.
Here’s how to do it:
- On your Android phone, open your Settings app.
- Tap System > Languages & input > App languages.
- Select Spark
- Choose a language.
Alternatively, you can change Spark language inside the Spark app:
- Open Spark Settings
- Tap on the “planet” icon in the upper toolbar
- Choose language
As always, we are always eager to hear from you. Do share your thoughts in the comments below or reach out to us @SparkMailApp on Twitter and share a screenshot from your Android device to show off your cool wallpaper with the Spark icon on it.
