Customize the Sidebar

Learn how to add and organize folders on the sidebar in Spark to quickly access the ones you use the most.

Add folders to the sidebar

The More button on the sidebar allows you to navigate all your folders and subfolders. It gives you quick access to needed folders without cluttering your sidebar.

When you open a folder, it appears in the Recents section at the bottom of the sidebar. You can quickly access it anytime.

The Favorites section on the sidebar allows you to pin your main folders:

  1. Click More.
  2. Choose the folder you want to pin and click on the star icon.
  1. You can color-code the folder you added. Right-click on the folder on the sidebar and select Change Folder Color.
  2. To reorder folders within the Favorites section, simply drag & drop them.

To pin a system folder (like Shared, Snoozed, Reminders):

  1. Click More and select the needed folder.
  2. Right-click on the folder on the sidebar and select Move to Favorites. Alternatively, you can drag & drop this folder anywhere you wish.

Here is the alternative way to add folders to the sidebar:

  1. Click Spark at the top left of your screen.
  2. Open Preferences > Folders.
  3. Tick the folders you wish to keep on the sidebar.

The Folders section on the sidebar is fully customizable, and you can keep any folders here.

At the very bottom of the sidebar, you can see your email accounts that are currently added to Spark. Tap the account to view its folders like Sent, Drafts, Archive, etc. This section is not customizable.

Follow these steps to add folders to the sidebar:

  1. Tap the menu icon  at the top left or just swipe from the left edge of the screen to reveal the sidebar.
  2. Select Edit list.
  3. Tap the plus icon near the folders you wish to add. You can tap your email address at the bottom to select a particular folder from this account.
  4. To reorder the folders, hold and drag them.
  5. After adding the folders, tap Save and the top right.

The Folders section on the sidebar is fully customizable, and you can keep any folders here.

Remove folders from the sidebar

Right-click on the folder on the sidebar and select Remove from Sidebar.

If you have multiple folders in the Recents section on the sidebar, click Clear to remove them all at once.

  2. Select Edit list.
  3. Tap the minus sign near the folders you want to remove.
  4. Select Save at the top right.

The types of Spark folders

Smart Inbox gathers emails from your various accounts and sorts them into Personal, Notifications, and Newsletters. Learn more about the Smart Inbox.

Attachments (iOS version only) contains the files you’ve received via email.

Reminders is a folder with a list of emails that you’d like to be reminded about when you don’t receive a reply. Learn more about follow-up reminders.

Assigned to Me includes the emails other people delegated to you.
